Antique Polychrome Religious Painted Santos Figure

This articulated, painted wooden figure is a Santos (saint)  doll, a religious figure I believe from the 19th Century (please correct me if Im wrong!) It is a simply beautiful object that makes an amazing display piece.

I have no idea of its exact history or origin.
